Trump's System of Punishment and Favor

The ex-president's voracious desire for retribution has rapidly morphed into a structured framework. Over the year since his election, the leader's fury and impulses have assumed the shape of official policies similar to analogous to earlier dictatorial systems. Government figures who do not cooperate are promptly removed and substituted by supporters. Opposing officials who question him face legal action, judicial process and sanctions. Adversaries have been designated under administration orders as “anti-American”, “anti-Christian” and “anti-capitalist”, and threatened with prosecution as “extremists”.

Government Institutions Remade

Each instance involving legal action of Trump's enemies and leniency for loyalists displays its own particular qualities. However, regardless of their particular nature, they exemplify examples of what has arisen as a systematic method. Those incidents are not isolated. Trump's cleansing of DoJ lawyers and law enforcement personnel, coupled with his installation of devotees in key posts, started swiftly, soon took on a pattern, and has now been molded into a system. Federal prosecutors and the Federal Bureau have been remade into ideological organizations under his clear direction to execute his directives. Wrongdoing has been rendered normal. This is the apparatus of revenge.

Leadership is more concerned with penalizing the chief's supposed opponents than they are with protecting our national security.

Internal the Apparatus

The foundation of this mechanism has been revealed in the court filing of three previous top Federal Bureau executives lodged in the ninth month in the federal court in Washington against FBI director an administration figure and attorney general another official for wrongful dismissal in “a campaign of revenge against Plaintiffs for what the accused deemed to be a refusal to exhibit adequate political loyalty”. The document states that a former acting director, the ex- temporary head, describes a discussion in which the director “freely confessed the illegality of his behavior”.

He had sought to shield agency personnel from being dismissed, the complaint states. He told him that “they” – interpreted by Driscoll to be the White House and federal prosecutors – had instructed him to dismiss all those who they determined as having been involved in a legal probe against Trump. The complaint goes on: “He stated that he had to fire the individuals his superiors told him to remove, because his capacity to hold his own job was contingent on the removal of the personnel who worked on investigations involving the chief executive. Patel explained that there was nothing he or Driscoll could do to prevent these or any other firings, because ‘the bureau tried to place the chief in jail and he hasn't forgotten it.’” When the official told Patel he was breaking the bureau's own policies, he allegedly said “he knew that and he was aware the character of the summary firings were almost certainly illegal”.

Widespread Consequences

Since his claimed confession to him, the DoJ and the Federal Bureau have been dismantled and repurposed for Trump's retribution system. Several of the agency's top officials were fired or forced out in the initial period of the government. Roughly thousands of legal professionals at DoJ have agreed to a “deferred resignation program”. No fewer than multiple government attorneys, among them those in the southern district of New York, stepped down in dissent over what they viewed as partisan influence in withdrawing the criminal prosecution against the city leader, a political figure, in exchange for his collaboration with his Immigration and Customs Enforcement roundups of migrants. The ethics division of DoJ, which oversees misconduct investigations, has been reduced to minimal staff. The rights protection unit has been devastated: 70% of its employees has left. A third of senior leaders at DoJ have quit. The division upholding environmental law has lost half its leadership.

Incentives and Penalties

Regarding the mayor's situation, the temporary lawyer for the southern district of New York, she, quit in objection against what she described as the “trade-off”. Tom Homan, his “immigration leader,” appeared as the agent with the mayor on a media outlet to announce: “Unless he complies, I'll be back in the city.”. Meanwhile, another figure, formerly the justice department figure and a past legal representative, who arranged the deal, was given an judicial position, a possible springboard to the highest court.

Trump's protection for wrongdoings committed while in office, granted by the unprecedented judgment of the conservative on the highest court, thus thwarting his prosecution over the Capitol riot and safeguarding his political viability for the 2024 election, is the foundation stone on which he relies to defend his loyalists. Given this protection, he has been liberated to permit wrongdoing. The effect of the judicial ruling permeates his administration and the political party down to its bones. Trump v United States has spread. Similar to Richard Nixon's legal adviser he commented about the Watergate
