Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been earned on hardcourt

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

Medvedev, a former world number one, has had a torrid year, achieving just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.

Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his service game in specific - led to him falling of the elite rankings and eventually splitting with long-time coach Cervara.

Presently training with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently advanced in the last few weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.

It is his initial trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hardcourt after spring of 2023.

Success also means Medvedev has achieved 21 championships at twenty-one various events.

"It's the first time I have attended a event with my two daughters together, so to secure a title is especially meaningful," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I won when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six championship matches, featuring in Halle previously this season.

His counter-punching strategy and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had caused commentators to question if his skill to compete at the elite level was over.

But the player has made changes in the past month, attempting to come to the net and perform assertively, supported by an enhanced serving game.

The champion came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the difficult opponent, winning four of the concluding five points to take the lead.

The competitors swapped breaks in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his first professional victory, seized the initiative to force a final set.

Moutet defended 4 initial chances in a competitive third set before the champion broke to that score to serve for the match.

Appropriately, he earned the title with a rally at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to control a shot after over two and a half hours.
